Dissociated weakening regime – everything you need to know

What is a dissociated regime for weight loss? Choosing such a diet allows you to lose weight quickly and durable? Who is the dissociated regime for? In this article we tell you everything you need to know about this dissociated regime for weight loss.

What is a dissociated regime for weight loss?

Dissociative diets allow you to eat almost everything, but not at the same time. This implies not to consume some foods together or affect a rapid saturation of appetite from the exclusive consumption of a single product. The most popular are the Antoine, Shelton or Montignac methods, 3+3 dissociated weight loss regime.

The 5 main rules of a dissociated weight loss regime

The first weight loss of the dissociated diet was designed in 1911 by an American doctor, dr. William Howard Hay. The five main rules of this method are further described:

  1. Carbohydrates (sugars) must not be consumed simultaneously with proteins and acid fruits. In other words, no pasta, rice or potatoes as a meat or fish companion.
  2. Carbohydrate tables and protein tables must be taken at least 4 hours.
  3. Acid foods (= rich in proteins or carbohydrates: meat, fish, eggs, cheese, cereals, foods rich in sugar) and alkaline foods (= vegetables, fruit) must not be combined during the meal.
  4. Refined foods (white rice, etc.) are prohibited. Therefore, the consumption of whole grains and unrefined products is encouraged.
  5. The milk must be reduced to a minimum. In any case, it should not be mixed with other foods.

Dissociated regime for weight loss: how does it work?

According to Dr. Hay, mixing any food together in the same mass risks some metabolic reactions that interfere with digestion. As a result, the body will store fat more easily instead of burning it. Antoine diets, Shelton, Slim-Data … a series of dissociated diets have appeared on the basis of their time and the more or less innovative ideas of their creators. But the most popular remains the Montignac method. A dissociated weak diet places more emphasis on the glycemic index.

Diet diet: is its effectiveness demonstrated or not?

In light of current knowledge on how the body works, there is no physiological reason to separate food families. Not to mention the fact that foods are mixed: they contain both carbohydrates and fat or proteins. Strictly respecting the principle would lead to the elimination of bread, white beans, whole rice, pasta.

It is often believed that, with this type of monotonous diet, you can eat less. However, when limiting a category of food, sooner or later you care about another, above all because the dissociated diets do not impose limits. In addition, deprived of entire families of food, long -term fiber deficits, vitamins … finally, a compensation cure is complicated to follow. It is durable for a month or two, no longer, and then everything returns as it was at the beginning. In short, all the effort is in vain!

Precautions to be taken with this type of diet

The dissociated diet can be tempting, because it is relatively easy to follow. By the way, a quick weight loss is a convincing topic, but it is not healthy for the body.

However, this practice should be faced with retrospective and common sense. It is not advisable to follow this long -term diet. It is really too unbalanced to be adapted to the needs of the body. It is also difficult to follow socially, because it is very monotonous, whether it is a convivial meal, in the canteen or in the restaurant. Finally, scientific evidence is missing to establish the credibility of a dissociated regime of weight loss or any other in this category.
